Horseback riding - Trail rides and riding lessons
Trail riding
Come trail riding with us through the fantastic scenery of Cariboo forests, meadows and creeks.
A trail ride is fun for the whole family. You and your children will enjoy the easy handling of your horse, the natural beauty of the surrounding area, the rich population of wildlife, such as deer, moose and eagles.
It's up to you, ride for 2 hours or longer on a trail ride.
We offer horseback riding for the general public as well. So you don't have to be a guest of Alexander MacKenzie Ranch to have fun on the back of a horse.
We are the only Ranch in the area offering seperate children rates for horseback riding. In small groups of up to only 6 riders we're riding thru the beautiful Cariboo forest, meadows, over hills and along scenic creeks and lakes. We are certain that you will enjoy this amazing recreational activity just like the many people before you.

Dear Thorsten
I want to thank you again for the wonderful trail ride that you took me on last week.
It was the highlight of my vacation! I so much enjoyed riding your lovely horse J.J. through the pretty forest and trails, the aspen grove and by the Muskrat Lakes.
The mule deer antlers that you found on the way and gave to me at the end of the ride was a perfect souvenier for such a day! And seeing the newly born foal with his mom was a bonus - when I got my camera out, he did a few little gallops around the corral, almost like he was putting on a little show just for me.
I look forward to coming back next year to repeat such an enjoyable experience.
Until next time,
Sincerely,
Christy Fisher
A big thank you to your great hospitality and fun on the trail.Had a great time and will definitely be back in the very near future!

Hi Thorsten,
The girls had a wonderful time riding with you. They said you made them laugh a lot and they loved the horses. The best part was that you aloud them to run the horses. Most trail rides do not allow this. Give our love to Kimmy. See you next summer.

Hello Daeublers,
My daughter Samantha and I have enjoyed our riding experiences at your Ranch so very much. We especially enjoy the horses. You have the best horses, and we love riding them. We had a great time on our last ride when we were galloping up the hills. Sams' favourite is Richard. I like Hammer. As horse lovers we can see how much you love your animals and it makes a difference in the personality of the horses we are given to ride. We are looking forward to October when we will go back to our cabin and ride with you again.
Sincerely
Caroline and Samantha Laskie

My self and my two children age 8 and 6 came for a lovely trail ride in July/07.We are a experienced horse family and i was really impressed at the manners and sure footedness of the horses they gave us to ride.It was a pleasure to have a horse that responded to my every need with out being hard to handle. My kids love how quite and gentle their horses were.I would recommend this place to any one of any experience looking for a really good deal and a lovely ride. Our guide wasfantastic stopping lots to let the kids have fresh wild raspberries.
Thanksagain .

I just wanted to let you know what lasting memories your wonderful ranch have given me. After receiving a coupon from Cottonwood Bay Resort, where we were camping with our family, we decided it was a good opportunity to take our oldest granddaughter, who is 7 and totally horse nuts, for her first trail ride. What a great adventure we had! Having horses of our own when our kids were young we appreciated that your facility was not only beautiful but caring and friendly. Being 7 my granddaughter was full of questions which were all answered with patience and kindness. Everyone that worked there was nice, the horses were healthy , clean and beautiful, and the scenery was breathtaking. Thank-you all for making my little girls dreams come true in such a special way. This is a memory my granddaughter and I will always share. See you again soon and thank-you again.

I have a beautifull picture of a rainbow over the lake that I'll be sending you. Andrea my relative from Switzerland would like to come again and spend more time at your ranch.

Fishing in BC, fishing spots along the Fishing Highway and regulations
Fishing in remote areas is your passion? Come to the Fishing Highway in British Columbia. Even fully booked our area is still nice and quiet, especially if your not staying on one of the bigger lakes and take your belly boat, small aluminum boat or canoe into one of the smaller lakes in our rolling mountains.
More than 150 great fishing lakes in the Interlakes area and even more along the rest of the Fishing Highway are being regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout and Kokanee.
The high water quality and the availability of enough natural food guarantees great tasting fish. In some of the remoter lakes you are able to catch Rainbow Trout with flesh that is almost as red as the flesh of Salmon.
Surrounded by all those great lakes it's no wonder that our guests choose a different lake each time. And most of them are within a 10 minute drive.
Wether you choose to fly fish or troll or whatever your favourite fishing style may be, you can be sure to able to do so here.
Fly fishing from the shores of a lake, along the creek or in the belly boat it's all possible. You want to bring your big boat? Public boat launches on the big lakes make it possible to bring 'em in. Usually we recommend to bring a smaller aluminum boat 12' or 14'. This makes it possible to go to the smaller lakes and remoter lakes, where you will find the angler's paradise. The trout you catch may at times only weigh 2 lbs. but tastes outstandingly good.
We prepared some lake facts and some of the best fishing spots around the Fishing Highway here for you. These are only a few. Check back throughout the year to see updatet fishing spots.

Dear Karin and Thorsten
Your ranch is full of loving and lovable animals. the dogs welcomed us in the sunshine and kept us company, which we both enjoyed a lot!
We relaxed and fellt at ease straight away.
Katja couldn't have had a more positive introduction to western style horseback riding and Wim even started considering changing to this way of riding alltogether when back at home.
We explored the surrounding nature and saw some great vista's, mixed with some memorable thrills when engaging the slopes, yet never felt unsafe.
We will cary forward these memories. Thanks again!
We wish you very good fortune at this beautiful spot, but if you keep up what you're doing right now already, there is no doubt about it that you will.
